The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Gordon Sturge can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Inclusiveness

I had seen and heard Gord at a few funerals but only got to know him a few years back at the Eastport( Gospel) Accordion Festival. The Emcee compared his voice to a pipe organ. Two songs I remember most

were 'Glory, Glory, Glory, Somebody Touched Me' and 'There's a Great Storm Arising', the latter I try  to do but, of course, not as good as Gord could do it.

Gord visited a Church in Gambo as part of a Gospel group. As soon as I entered He had me come up to join them. On another occasion we went to a Wesleyville Church during their Civic Holiday Celebrations and he spotted me in the congregation and even though the program was more than half over invited me up to play a part.

It was only last week driving through NewWesValley I mentioned Gord, how much joy he seemed to have in singing and playing, and the joy and inspiration he brought others. It was so sad that it was silenced.
